Leprechaun Pancakes-Easy St Patrick’s Day Breakfast

Just a couple of days until St Patrick’s Day and it wouldn’t be a holiday around here without some fun food ideas. Maybe I like creating fun things with pancakes because breakfast food is my favorite but also, pancakes are easy to play around with.  For Christmas we made Santa Pancakes and I figured it wouldn’t be too much harder to change a few things and make some Leprechaun pancakes.Fun Food : Leprechaun Pancakes

How to Make Leprechaun Pancakes

I know that these are pretty self-explanatory but for these pancakes you will need:

  • Pancake batter (your favorite 🙂 )
  • Bananas
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Oranges
  • Whipped Cream or Cool whip
  • Red, yellow and green food coloring

I mixed up an easy pancake mix and divided the batter in half.  Half of the batter I left alone and the other half I added green food coloring until it was a nice green.

Then I made large, round pancakes.  Once the green ones were cooked I cut them in the shape of a hat, and the others I placed in the center of a plate.

I cut a banana for the ears and eyes.  Added chocolate chips for the eye balls and the nose and used an orange slice for the mouth.

The only thing left was to add the beard.  I added a few drops of red and yellow food coloring to the Cool Whip to change it orange and dabbed it around the bottom and sides of the head.

Then, just add the hat to the head and you’re done!Fun Food: Leprechaun pancakes

These were really quick to do.  I just don’t have time to do things too elaborate but I still like to make things fun for the holidays.

And of course my boys had to play with them before they could eat them.  I handed them their plates and a couple of pieces of bacon and these are the leprechaun pancakes they came up with:
