Sometimes Playing is Hard Work!

If you are a parent then you have probably experienced that moment where you are going about your business and then suddenly realize that you haven’t seen one of your kids in awhile.  My 4-year-old is normally either right at my side needing something,  or torturing loving on his little brother.  So when the house is quiet, I normally know something is up.

I was cleaning the kitchen the other day and I noticed I hadn’t seen him in awhile.  My older boys were not home so I was curious to where he was.  I panicked just a bit as I went from room to room, calling his name and couldn’t find him.  Then I went outside around the house calling his name and still couldn’t find him.  I’m a worry wart and I admit it.  At this point my adrenaline is pumping as I’m thinking of all of the bad things that could have happened to him. (Yes, I’m also an over-reactor.)

And finally I walked back in the house to call my husband and found this:

playing hard is hard work

He was dead asleep in the ball pit.  Suddenly I felt funny for overreacting but I got over that pretty quickly and just enjoyed a 3 hour break with some peace and quiet that doesn’t happen very often around here.  I guess playing hard is hard work!

Where is the funniest place your children have fallen asleep?

Move Over “Wooly Willy”! Make your own “fuzzy face” plates

I’m pretty positive that this is my absolute favorite craft we have ever done.  We have spent so much time playing with these and laughing at how cute this little baby is.  I used to love playing with Wooly Willy when I was a kid so I set out on this craft to try to make my own.  It was my husbands brilliant idea to use pictures of my kids instead of drawing the actual Wooly Willy and I’m so glad he thought of that because these are so super fun.

Funny Photo Bookmarks

These have to be one of my favorite things we have made!  I originally saw the idea from here but I made a few modifications so I could use materials I had at home and we made these for the kid’s grandpas for Father’s Day.

I had the kids pose as if they were hanging onto a rope and took their picture.  Then I printed them out on cardstock, cut them out, and laminated them. This is the laminator that I have and love!  It’s perfect for small crafts at home because it doesn’t get hot and your kids can use it.  If you don’t have a small laminator at home you can always use clear contact paper or just go somewhere to get them laminated.

After I had laminated and cut them out I used a hole punch to punch through their hands and looped a ribbon through.  You can use a tassle if you have them or if you want to make them.  I just used ribbon since I had it.

I might have to say though that this “baby bookmark”  is my favorite!

All Partied Out!

How do you know if your birthday party was a success?

The birthday boy can’t even make it through dinner before crashing.  We thought he just bent over to pick something up but then he never sat back up.

All tuckered out!
