Spring Break Scavenger Hunt

Spring Break Scavenger Hunt

We are on day 3 of Spring Break and although our first day was a breeze as the kids entertained themselves outside pretty much all day, now they are starting to get bored.   Yesterday when they came in SO bored I jotted down a scavenger hunt on a piece of scrap paper and sent them out on an adventure.

They were gone for about 30 minutes looking around our cul-de-sac for everything on the list.  Then they were back wanting more.  I made a new list and sent them out and we repeated this all afternoon.  By the end of the day they were making their own lists and pretty much entertaining themselves. Edible Dinosaur Eggs

Dinosaur Eggs for Easter

Easter time is here and my boys are really excited for next week.  Not only for Easter but because we have Spring Break off the entire week before Easter.   Since my boys have each gone through a stage where they were obsessed with Dinosaurs, I knew these Dinosaur eggs would be a fun Easter project for them. St Patricks Day Games

Quick and Easy St Patricks Day Games

As I mentioned in past posts, this week I’ve been entertaining a sick 4-year-old. We’ve made some fun food ideas like our Rainbow snack and Shamrock cookies, but I wanted to do something fun to entertain him so he wasn’t totally absorbed in the television or Ipad. I had him help me try out these two  St Patricks Day games.

We made up a  game that we named “Let’s Roll a Leprachaun”.  This was inspired by the game “Roll a Pumpkin” from Happy Home Fairy that my boys played over and over and over at Halloween time.

The picture is self explanatory but basically, you take turns rolling dice and based on what you roll you are able to add a feature to your leprechaun or for a twist if you roll an 11 you have to switch papers with another person. (My 4-year-old was absolutely NOT giving up his leprechaun so you can always leave it out or change #11.  My older boys thought it was fun.)   The first person to finish their leprechaun wins.

Why You Will Never Buy Finger Paint Again

Why you will never buy finger paint again

Some people consider me crazy when it comes to the types of activities I let my kids do.  For example, Play-doh is a must-have at our house although I know lots of moms that don’t allow it (hello, it entertains for hours!!  And all I have to do is sweep up the floor when they’re done) and all of my boys have gone through a stage where they could have lived in a dirt pile.  So painting with our hands using finger paint is really no big deal around here as long as it is contained to the kitchen.

I always loved finger paint as a kid.  There is just something about that squishy goo between your fingers and being able to create something with your hands.  Loved it!

Anytime I can make something for less than I can buy it I get excited and plus living in a small town makes it hard to find certain things.  So, when I came across an easy recipe for finger paint in a family cookbook I knew we had to give it a try,  This recipe is so easy that you will never buy finger paint again!
