This quote doesn’t really need any explanation from me. Mother Teresa was one of the most loving and selfless people to ever walk the planet and these words of hers are something that I need to be reminded of often. People will hurt us, treat us unfairly, judge us, misunderstand us, cheat us, and make us feel inferior but we have a choice on how we will react to them and if we will let them have power over us or if we can have power over them by choosing a higher path.
When we choose to forgive, to be kind, to love and to be happy, regardless of how others may treat us, we can begin to create a life in which we find true peace and contentment within ourselves, and then we will no longer rely on the opinions of others to create or destroy our happiness.
